What is Sports Massage?
Sports Massage is the manipulation of soft tissues (muscles, tendons and ligaments) to help maximise performance while decreasing the risk of injury or pain. It is also used to help soft tissue mend after injury, and promote healing and return to normal function.
Sports massage can include ‘traditional’ massage movements with specialised techniques and stretches which are designed to increase blood flow and optimise healing and remodelling and regeneration.
It can be used as part of a fitness regime to optimise muscle health, before and after an event or workout, or to help with recovery and rehabilitation after an injury. It can also help with every day aches and pains.
